The Outreach of St. Stephen's Congregation The following are the personal and local outreach ministries of our congregation. For more information contact the office at the numbers above. "Let not the oppressed turn back in shame: may the poor and needy praise Your name." —Psalm 74:21 Personal Ministries In baptism, Christ promises us his enduring love. As stewards of God's gifts, we too may have an enduring influence. The fruits of our lives can continue to work for the Lord. Your enduring gift is one means to make a print in the sand to help others recall your life and values. What is the Enduring Gifts Program? The purpose of this program is to enhance the mission outreach of this congregation and to achieve ministries and projects above and beyond those supported through the annual operating budget of this congregation. "But at once He spoke with them, 'Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!' He got into the boat with them and the wind died down. They were [completely] astounded." —Mark 6:50b-51 in nearby Port Everglades, mission is to improve the lives of seafarers and their families through ecumenical service. The organization takes a multi-faith approach to the Christian founded maritime ministry tradition by striving to honor the faiths of all who visit. Seafarers typically work long hours for low wages and can be away from their families for up to a year at a time. When they arrive in port, there is precious little shore time to contact loved ones, shop for necessities and maybe rest and relax. Most who visit the Seafarers' House want to make calls on one of the 85 phones available. Because being separated from family for extended periods is difficult, callers often seek counseling after their calls. The Seafarers' House offers visitors postal and shipping services as well as a small store that sells everything from soap to foreign newspapers and ethnic food products. A free van service is available and they provide a secure system for transferring money back to the families these men and women work so hard to support. Seafarers' House "And the King will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of Mine, you did for Me.'" —Matthew 25:40
