The Congregation of St. Stephen Lutheran Church
mourns the passing of Pastor Don Himmelman

The Reverend Don Himmelman, a retired pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America died at his home in St. Mark's Village, Palm Harbor, Florida, during Sunday night, August 24, 2008. Pr. Himmelman is survived by wife Sue Ann, and their three children: Dean, John, and Karen. He was 78 years old. A memorial service will be offered in mid September. More information will follow as it becomes available.

Prior to his retirement, Pr. Himmelman served Lutheran congregations throughout the state of Florida including St. Matthias, Clearwater; Faith, Sarasota; Prince of Peace, Fernandina Beach; and most recently St. Stephen, Pompano Beach. He also served on the Bishop's Staff of the Florida Synod of the Lutheran Church in America (a predecessor body of the ELCA). He is well known across the Florida-Bahamas Synod as a strong leader, a dedicated pastor, and for his humor and love of Barbershop music.

To you, O God, we pray: For Don, his wife Sue Ann, his family, and all those who have been touched by the life and ministry of Don. May we continue to be blessed, even in death, by his service to You and to Your church. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. AMEN.

Stewardship
This is usually the time of year when a stewardship committee writes an article about the summer season, and all the wonderful things that come with summer; no school, family vacations, sleeping in (at least for the kids out of school!) longer days, trips to the beach and the list goes on and on.  .::Continued::.
